Many shops sell machine fabric and call it Kamalia khaddar. Our studio is based in Kamalia, the city that gave khaddar its name, and we buy directly from local weavers. This keeps the fabric real, the quality steady and the price fair. Small changes in the weave of handmade pieces are normal, and they show that the fabric was truly made by hand.

Stitching and Care Tips

Winter khaddar is thicker than summer fabric, so tell your tailor it is winter khaddar before cutting. Wash it once in cold water before stitching to settle the fabric. Leave a little room in the kameez so you can wear a light inner layer on very cold days. After stitching, wash in cold or lukewarm water, never wring it hard, and dry it in the shade. Store your suits folded in a dry place in summer, and they will be ready and fresh when the cold returns.
